The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must never go out. Not every flame dies because it was extinguished. Some die because they were neglected.
The priestly commission develops passion, the king's charge demands purpose. The Altar is about what must be kept alive. Passion is the flame. Embracing purpose keeps it alive.
The Altar design and the Latin inscription embedded in it draw from Leviticus 6:12–13, where the command is simple: the fire on the altar must not go out.
